The Knox County Democratic Party is a hard-working group of Democrats working to turn East Tennessee Blue. In the last two years we have opened and remodeled a permanent headquarters and trained over 90 grassroots organizers. We have made tens of thousands of phone calls and knocked thousands of doors for candidates and issues. Through our office, we have hosted a regional office of the TNDP and  TNDP interns as well as hosting  OFA phone banks and events.

We have participated in many community events and fundraisers demonstrating our commitment to improving our community. We had over 100 people participate in a countywide Earthday project and over 35 people volunteer in our sponsorship of the “All About Women” event. We have participated in the following parades: Dogwood Arts, Farragut 4th of July, Downtown Christmas , Karns Christmas, MLKJr., Austin East Homecoming, and Karns Homecoming. We table at Pridefest, Earthfest, Mechanicsville Homecoming, Karns Homecoming, Kuumba, and other events as we are able.

With the 6th District Democrats as hosts, we have given 4 parties to the veterans and employees at the Ben Atchley Veteran’s Home. Our party has had fundraisers for Second Harvest, the Dialysis Center, College Democrats, Lilly Ledbetter, and others at our regular First Friday Event. First Friday is a social event from 6-9 pm at our HQ on the first Friday of each month. This is an event that all downtown businesses participate in and a great place to connect with other Democrats to build our group.

Our largest event is Truman Day, which usually falls at the end of Spring or in early Summer. We had it at the Knoxville Zoo the last two years so we plan to try something new this year…so stay tuned. We also are planning Unity Day with some special surprises this year! We had our first Make It Blue Monday Concert with Tommy Womack, a singer/songwriter from Nashville, and we plan to have another concert soon.

We would love to have you join us and there has never been a better time than NOW! We have some great candidates running for city elections who could use your support and we are gearing up for 2012 as well.  Please feel free to call if you have any questions. You may call the office or call the Chair anytime. Thank you so much for stopping by, we would love to see you at any of our events or meetings!

Regular County-Wide Meeting is the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 at our headquarters.
