The resolution was passed by the committee by 415 to 99 votes, according to Progress Arizona, an organization that advocates for progressives in the state.
The measure warned Sinema that the state party will “closely monitor” her upcoming votes, and if she does not vote for the broad Democratic budget reconciliation plan, it “will be officially recorded” and “will give the Sinema Senate a NO vote. CONFIDENCE. “
The Arizona Democratic Party also called on Sinema to support an end to filibustering to allow voting rights legislation to pass, including the For the People Act and the Law. They urged her to end the filibuster to help push through other “urgent legislation,” including the Right to Organize Protection Act, commonly known as the PRO Act.
The state party’s resolution allows for possible censorship of Sinema if she does not meet the conditions set out in the letter, adding that this could come with “the clear understanding that she could potentially lose ADP support in 2024” .
“We all face a critical crossroads and nothing less than our democracy is at at stake, and as all indicators show, Democrats could lose both the House and the Senate in 2022 if we don’t “deliver the goods” by passing voting rights, health care, expansion health insurance, free college funding for two years, immigration reform, especially a path to citizenship for dreamers, labor rights, green jobs, climate emergency legislation / environmental protection and more, ”says the resolution.
Sinema has previously said she opposed the $ 3.5 trillion price tag for the Democrats’ package – which includes investments in climate change and education, among other key party initiatives – saying the figure of business is too high.
Democrats are slowly preparing to eventually vote on the massive package in the coming days.
The Hill has contacted Sinema’s office for comment.
