Biden fights Trump for ‘soul of the nation’ because Democrats can’t run on his failed policies

Donald Trump is the monster under the bed.

Because the Democrats don’t have much to say about Joe Biden, they’re casting the midterm elections as a referendum…not on their president, but rather on Donald Trump. Who can blame them?

Eight weeks to go, President Joe Biden‘s approval ratings, while slightly improved, are still dismal. In fact, they’re pretty much about where Trump was at this point in his presidency. Given that Biden has led to high inflation, rising crime, a collapsed border and a looming recession, he cannot campaign for Democrats on his record. As a result, he turned to attack Trump and the tens of millions of people he calls “MAGA Republicans.”

Biden calls this confrontation a “battle for the soul of this nation.”

BIDEN’S MAGA-BAASHING DISABLES CENTRIST HOUSE REPUBLICANS

He calls Trump (and his supporters) an extreme and a threat to democracy. He imbues the former president with not just bad intentions but immense superpowers.

It’s worth noting that despite the demagoguery, Biden is rightfully in the Oval Office, the election is going fast, and most importantly, Republican voters have left Trump. In a recent Pew poll, only 39% of likely GOP voters say Trump is expected to run for president in 2024.

In fact, Trump’s position in the GOP steadily declined as voters grew tired of his misguided fixation on the 2020 election and his self-aggrandizement. His Republican endorsement was slipping until the Mar-a-Lago raid, which inflamed his base and put him back in the spotlight. Maybe that was the goal.

Democrats applaud Biden’s battle, which is not being fought against our nation’s moral decline — against the rise of lawlessness, the vanishing work ethic, or the flight from personal responsibility. This is not a battle against the ugly political divisions and lost tolerance that have undermined our civility.

Instead, the battle for the soul of the nation is 100% aimed at annihilating former President Donald J. Trump and eliminating every one of his policies.

Ironically, it was the conduct of this war that undermined Biden’s presidency. Trump’s policies, simply stated, have succeeded. Biden’s are not.

Columnist David Ignatius, writing in The Washington Post, is so enthused by Biden’s anti-Trump fervor that he proclaimed it his legacy: “He was the person who moved decisively to stop Donald Trump.”

BIDEN TARGETS ‘REPUBLICAN MAGA’ AGAIN IN PENNSYLVANIA: ‘THIS IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PARTY’

Biden, says Ignatius, not only stopped Trump at the polls, but also “thanks to his administration’s consistent and unwavering enforcement of the rule of law.”

This is a surprising assertion. The Biden White House has broken more laws than I can count. The Supreme Court has rejected White House efforts to strike down President Trump‘s stay-in-Mexico provision, his mandate requiring big business to require workers to be vaccinated, his efforts to regulate greenhouse gas emissions via the EPA and a lower court judge overturned Biden’s moratorium on oil and gas leasing.

Most likely, the courts will rule that Biden’s student loan is also illegal.

But, of course, what really excites Ignatius is Biden’s persistent pursuit of Donald Trump. The hunt for the former president culminated in the recent raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence, which to many seemed like a theatrical and unnecessary political antics.

It also appears clearly unstable law enforcement. Any unbiased observer will conclude that the rules that allowed Hillary Clinton to store her personal emails, which included classified information, on a secret server at her home, built for the sole purpose of avoiding public scrutiny, and which allowed the communication devices to be illegally destroyed, would agree that charging Trump with possession of classified documents would be a grossly unequal application of justice.

And, we haven’t even gotten to the non-investigation of Hunter Biden’s shady business deals with companies linked to the Chinese Communist Party and other questionable activities in Ukraine and Russia. Or Joe Biden’s involvement in these sketchy cases.

BIDEN SAYS ‘MAGA REPUBLICANS’ THREATEN DEMOCRACY AS HE AND DEMS BOOST ANTI-TRUMP RHETORIC BEFORE HALF TERMS

Surely a constant applying the rule of law would not allow FBI agent Timothy Thibault to close the investigation into Hunter’s infamous laptop. A constant enforcing the rule of law would not stop whistleblowers from lining up to report political bias within the FBI — bias that has led to ongoing investigations into former President Trump.

For Ignatius and other Democrats, nothing beats defeating Trump, even if it means permanently scarring and dividing the nation. This is Ignatius’ excuse for Biden’s abusive speech in Philadelphia, in which he excoriated Trump supporters.

The Post columnist explains that ignoring Trump didn’t work the way Biden hoped, so the president must have gotten vicious. Hilariously, Ignatius recalls that in Biden’s inaugural address “he used the word ‘unity’ eight times…And he seemed to understand his place in American history, replacing Trump’s ‘carnage’ with something decent.”

This includes, apparently, going after Trump and his supporters, insulting tens of millions of people as “quasi-fascists”.

Ignatius is very happy that Biden’s polls have improved, but he doesn’t explain why Biden’s endorsement was so lousy in the first place.

Biden is a failed president precisely because he made it his mission to undo everything Trump has done. On the issues that most concern voters, Trump had the right policies. Policies that have worked.

The Republicans play defense and allow the Democrats to win with this campaign against Donald Trump. Although nearly 70% of the country thinks we are on the wrong track, the outlook for Democrats has improved.

Biden said in Philadelphia that Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic.”

Republicans need to remind voters of what Biden considers “extreme.” That Biden thinks a secure border, safe streets, affordable energy, stable prices, a growing economy, states’ rights, and parental involvement in our children’s education are “extreme” ideas. They need to tell voters that so-called MAGA policies transcend Donald Trump and are the foundation of sensible ideas that work for America.

They need to make the midterm election a referendum on Joe Biden. It’s an easy win.
