Cloverfield (2008) – IMDb

To celebrate Rob’s massive promotion, his lover, Beth, and his friends decide to throw a huge surprise farewell party, now that he’s about to move to Japan. However, a deafening explosion and the arrival of a huge, scaly, skinny creature will abruptly interrupt the festivities, as all hell breaks loose in New York City and the Statue of Liberty is beheaded. As the reptilian monster levels Manhattan, a daring race to save Beth begins, while at the same time everything is recorded through the lens of a portable camcorder, amidst chaos and destruction. In the end, where did this relentless invader come from, and most importantly, is there any chance of survival? As they go to investigate, an adventure through the streets of New York begins, as the friends are determined to save Rob’s true love.

The shoot bounced back from filming in New York to filming on sound stages in Los Angeles. You can tell who’s who by the grime on the streets. The scene in the loft was shot on a Los Angeles stage, and the entire scene was shot by the two camera-handling actors in the movie, Mike Vogel and TJ Miller. Learn more »

Most consumer digital cameras, even battery-hungry miniDV cameras, offer a recording time of over 2 hours on the supplied battery and in the order of five hours on the manufacturer’s high endurance option.
