Country music star Jason Aldean’s wife joined a chorus of critics who criticized Vice President Kamala Harris‘ Memorial Day weekend tweet.
Harris tweeted on Saturday that people should “take advantage of the long weekend,” with a smiling photo of herself.
Critics were quick to point out that his tweet did not mention the reason for the long weekend is Memorial Day – a federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May in honor of soldiers who died as they served in the army.
Brittany Aldean appeared to voice her own criticisms, posting a series of photos to Instagram on Tuesday with her family, a waving American flag and balloons showing the stars and stripes.
In her post, Brittany said her family “don’t take Memorial Day lightly.”
âIt’s more than a ‘long weekend’,â said Brittany, apparently a shot against Harris.
Kamala Harris continues to be criticized for tweet she sent ahead of Memorial Day
Harris tweeted “Take advantage of the long weekend”, which critics say failed to understand the importance of Memorial Day and those who sacrificed their lives for the United States
‘@jasonaldean and I both come from military families and understand the importance our loved ones and others have sacrificed for us and our freedom. We hoist our flag high⦠EVERY DAY, âcontinued Brittany.
âIt’s the least we can do to show our appreciation. God bless the moms who couldn’t hold their babies once more. To dads who couldn’t express how proud they were. WE THINK AND PRAY FOR YOU, EVERYDAY. ‘
Brittany went on to write: ‘Thank you to the military and everyone who continues to serve this beautiful country and risk their lives for us !!!! We love you !!’
Many of the comments on Brittany’s post concurred with her sentiment and referred to the “long weekend” controversy.
Brittany Aldean, wife of country star Jason Aldean, was among those who shot Harris
“It’s more than a ‘long weekend,’ Brittany posted on Instagram, a not-so-veiled Harris snapshot.
Jason Aldean is one of the biggest stars in country music. The 44-year-old was born in Georgia before moving to Nashville at the age of 21.
He and Brittany Kerr married in 2015, having their first child, Memphis, in 2017 and their second, Navy, in 2019.
Jason received four Grammy nominations during his career, including two for Best Country Album.
Some of his biggest hits include “She’s Country”, “Big Green Tractor”, “Drows the Whiskey” and “Rearview Town”.
Jason has refused to talk much about politics in the past, but Brittany hasn’t been shy about it.
According to Fox News, Brittany posted a video on her Instagram Story the day after the 2020 election where she had a blue sweatshirt with Trump’s name on it next to an American flag. The caption read “MY PRESIDENT AGAIN”.

Harris’ tweet drew criticism from all corners of social media after it was posted.
The next day, she addressed the controversy by paying tribute to the deceased US servicemen in another tweet.
“Throughout our history, our soldiers, men and women, have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country,” tweeted the vice president. “As we prepare to honor them on Remembrance Day, we remember their service and sacrifice.”
Harris also spoke at the U.S. Naval Academy graduation and commissioning ceremony on Friday during which she called the “best, bravest and brightest” United States military.
But that wasn’t enough to quell his critics who called his original tweet “unprofessional.”
Air National Guard Lt. Col. Adam Kinzinger called his tweet “deaf.”
âEnjoy your freedom bought by many who died for it. Deaf to tone, “he tweeted.
Nikki Haley, who served as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the UN and is a potential 2024 presidential candidate, retweeted Harris’ tweet and wrote on Sunday: “Unprofessional and unfit.”
“Show respect for the heroes who paid the ultimate price for our freedom,” tweeted former Donald Trump press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Kimberly Klacik, a former Republican congressional candidate, called Harris “stupid” for the tweet.
‘Long weekend? I know a lot of people are upset and say it’s disrespectful, but I think you are really stupid, âshe wrote.
âIt’s just a ‘long weekend’ for this fraud. I have several deceased friends who disagree, âwrote Buzz Patterson, retired Air Force pilot.
