WASHINGTON — A threat to our democracy? The major problem for Democrats is that they haven’t won a blank vote in presidential elections since 1964. Today, most Americans weren’t alive to see it. Former President Lyndon Johnson‘s landslide victory included winning the blank vote (see vote percentages at end of column).
I wonder what the Democrats would do to win the election or could there be some coordination of efforts. After all, their willingness to give more than $53 million to extreme Republican candidates in the Republican primaries to boost their chances of winning the general election is a new low in politics.
Now, their use of the border crisis?
Every year, America allows approximately one million legal immigrants to enter America. The crisis at our porous border is set to reach a record two million encounters with illegal migrants. An unknown number of them successfully entered the United States under President Joe Biden.
It is sad, cynical and regrettable that it took the actions of GOP governors in border states and Florida to capture the attention of the liberal media and the White House.
The liberal classic limousines were on display. It is normal for illegal immigrants to come to the United States, but not “here” (in my garden). Transporting illegals to Chicago, New York and Washington, DC has been a constructive approach to bringing attention to the issue. However, transporting illegals to Martha’s Vineyard was truly special and caught everyone’s attention.
Sometimes Democrats’ indifference makes it seem like they’re okay with the status quo as if it’s part of their plan.
Democrats often point to the 11 million illegal DACA people and the importance of creating a pathway for their citizenship. However, this has nothing to do with protecting our borders.
While in control of Congress, the Democrats never introduced a bill to fight America’s illegal invasion of the Mexican border.
The president and his appointed Border Czar – Vice President Kamala Harris – have done little to address the issue. In fact, Harris said the border was secure.
Many elected Democrats contradict Harris and say there is a crisis on the border.
As generous of a nation as we are, there is an entry process. An economic reason is not enough to skip the line drawn for legal entry. Our border towns are overwhelmed. Question: When will this stop?
When there is an invasion, the military is required to intervene. The only difference from what we experience on the Mexican border is that people entering or invading the United States are not in uniform. If they were armed, we would be required to mobilize our soldiers to stop them by any means necessary.
‘Cause they’re smiling and looking clueless, we say – ” Come in ! » I applaud the efforts of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Someone must act to save America from the unknown consequences of good and bad people invading America. People are playing America like suckers! Or Democrats see them as future Democratic voters as they continue to lose the blank vote, election after election.
Then when you consider the states most affected by the illegal invasion – Arizona, Texas and Florida – look at what they have in common. They are all essential to a Republican victory in a presidential race. It’s hard, if not impossible, to see a path a Republican presidential candidate can take without winning those states.
In the presidential elections, black Americans made a difference by giving more than 90% of the usual black votes to the Democratic candidate for president. So, with extremely high black voter turnout, and despite losing the white vote in every presidential election, the Democrats win.
When black people had opportunity and freedom after the Civil War, for decades they threw their support and near-unanimous votes for the Republican candidate. Each of the nearly two dozen black people elected to Congress through the 1930s was a Lincoln Republican. It’s gratitude. The shift to Democrats began with President Franklin Roosevelt.
Perhaps the Democrats think that if they can indulge in illegal immigrants from Latin America and create a similar relationship with them – giving them access to the fruits, benefits, freedoms and opportunities enjoyed by all Americans – Democrats can develop the same “Acknowledgement” among Latino voters, that could be enough to tip Arizona, Texas and Florida in their favor for decades to come.
Let’s look at the numbers from the Roper Center for Public Opinion. Here are the percentages of blank votes when the Democrats won the presidential races and Clinton vs. Trump: 1976 – Carter 48% vs. Ford 52%; 1992 – Clinton 39% vs. Bush 41%; 1996 – Clinton 44% vs. Dole 46%; 2008 – Obama 43% vs. McCain 55%; 2012 – Obama 39% vs. Romney 59%; 2020 – Biden 41% vs. Trump 58%; 2016 – H. Clinton 37% vs. Trump 57%.
The trend should be worrying. In 21st century Democratic victories, nearly 60% of whites backed the Republican nominee. Is it healthy for a true democracy that the wishes of the majority population are thwarted every election cycle?
