Exit polls show most voters don’t want Joe Biden to run for president in 2024

Midterm elections in the United States are underway, with Democrats and Republicans battling for a majority in both houses of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Recent exit polls show signs of a bigger problem that threatens the Dems for the next presidential elections in 2024.

Early results from the national exit poll conducted for CNN and other news networks by Edison Research show that more than two-thirds of those who voted for House candidates do not want incumbent President Joe Biden to stand up for re-election in two years.

More than seven in ten independent voters and at least nine in ten Republican voters said they did not want Biden in the next presidential race. While less than six in ten Democratic voters thought he should run again in 2024.

That comes because just under six in ten independent voters and more than nine in ten GOP voters hold an unfavorable view of Biden and his work as president. While only one in ten Democratic voters have an unfavorable opinion of the president and slightly more disapprove of his job performance.

By contrast, two-thirds of independent voters and more than nine in ten Democratic voters held an unfavorable view of former President Donald Trump. While just over three-quarters of GOP voters had a favorable opinion of him. Notably, Independent voters make up about a quarter of the electorate, about a third are Democratic voters, and Republican voters make up just over a third of the electorate.
