First Lady Jill Biden and Douglas Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, will travel to Houston next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – First Lady Jill Biden will stop over in Texas next week as part of a nationwide tour to help encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Vice President Kamala Harris‘ husband Biden and Douglas Emhoff will travel to Houston on Tuesday, June 29, after visiting the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The next day, the two will then travel to Phoenix.

It’s unclear which vaccine sites in Houston Biden and Emhoff will visit. These trips are part of the Biden administration‘s push for more vaccinations.

On Tuesday, the first lady visited Mississippi, which has consistently ranked among the U.S. states with the fewest residents vaccinated against the virus.

About 30% of Mississippi’s total population is fully vaccinated, according to the state’s health department.

In Texas, about 57% of the state’s population has been vaccinated. More than 11 million inhabitants are listed as fully vaccinated.
