“No, I don’t believe I’m set to fail,” Harris retorted.

“I am the Vice President of the United States,” she continued. “All I’m dealing with is because it’s a tough problem, and it couldn’t be dealt with on another level. And there are a lot of big tough issues that need to be addressed, and that actually makes part of my career throughout my life. to deal with tough issues and that’s no different. “

Harris declined to say if she believed the exam was due to her being a black woman.

“I’ll let the others take care of it,” she said to Brennan. “I have a job to do, and I will do this job.”

Harris’ defenders have criticized Biden for charging her with seemingly un-winnable issues like the border crisis. CNN commentator and former representative Bakari Sellers said, “His wallet is a trash. You give someone a wallet that is not meant to allow them to be successful.”

A recent staff reshuffle in Harris’s office has also fueled reports of a toxic work environment that has plagued the Vice President since taking office.

A former staff member who worked for Harris before being vice president told the Washington Post earlier this month that Harris is a “bully” who subjects his employees to “a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism. “.

“People are being thrown under the bus from the top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” a person with direct knowledge of how Harris’s office is run in June told Politico. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported, but a place where people feel treated like shit.”

Harris’ director of communications Ashley Etienne and senior advisor to vice president and chief spokesperson Symone Sanders recently announced their departure. Politico reported this month that other key members of Harris’s office were “targeting exits.”

The White House has played down the departures, with press secretary Jen Psaki saying it’s “natural” for staff to be ready to “move on.”
