New Delhi: It will be a much anticipated meeting between US Vice President Kamala Harris and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23.
The meeting, even before the Prime Minister meets President Joe Biden, is particularly important because Vice President Harris is of Indian descent. She is the first person of Indian origin to hold such a post. While Blair House, the Vice President’s official residence is a possibility, the meeting will likely be held in her office. PM should invite VP to India.
The other meeting envisaged and uncertain for the moment is that in Washington DC between the Prime Minister and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who will be present for the meeting of Aukus with his American and Australian counterparts. There is considerable enthusiasm within the UK government for improving ties with India and Johnson has made two attempts this year, but both have failed due to Covid. There is an opportunity for a meeting in Washington DC.
In addition, the Prime Minister will certainly have bilateral exchanges with President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga. These meetings will take place the day before and on the day of the first âin personâ Quad meeting.
