It was an impressive session for progressives, as Washington State has not seen since the 1993 session. The challenge for them now will be to sell their victories to a wider audience. From capital gains tax to climate pledge law to the Blake decision, the implications of this session will be broad and lasting.

Senator Manka Dhingra is Deputy Majority Leader in the Washington State Senate. She brings two decades of experience as a prosecutor and behavioral health expert to her roles as Chair of the Senate Behavioral Health Subcommittee and Deputy Chair of the Senate Law and Justice Committee. She also sits on the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Joe Fitzgibbon was elected to represent the 34th Legislative District in 2010. He chairs the House Environment and Energy Committee and sits on the Credit and Rural Development, Agriculture and Resources Committees. natural. He also sits on the Special Committee on Retirement Policy. Prior to his election, Joe was a member of the legislative staff and a member of the Burien Planning Commission.
