South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham says if Trump is found guilty of mishandling top secret documents, there will be riots in the streets. Well, sure, like Trump, he won’t be in the streets leading the pack. Like Trump, he’s an agitator, everything barks.
If Trump supporters are dumb enough to go rail for this protofascist (Trump), then they must be feeling the power of a few good Marines.
Republicans complain about the increase in IRS staff, if they file the proper tax documents, they have nothing to worry about. Considering Trump and fellow insiders like Allen Weisselberg, a Trump Foundation lawyer who was charged with 15 counts of criminal fraud, and other Republican office holders caught cheating on their income taxes, the Republican hypocrisy flows from their Orwellian mouths.
Now, about the Republicans and their hypocrisy over their outrage that President Biden writes off some student loan debt and calls him hyperinflationary is laughable! Republicans like to give huge tax breaks to super rich and giant monopolized corporations. Given the enormous fraud within the military-industrial complex, forgiving student loans is a wonderful idea.
Iowa Republicans have forgiven state income taxes for retirees who winter down south hoping to spend their money wintering in Iowa. What joke! Now those poor retirees may have more money to spend in Arizona. Hey, don’t tell Governor Kim Reynolds. Well, the Republican-run state will simply make up for the shortfall by raising our property taxes.
Now about right-wing syndicated writers like Cal Thomas who downplay or mock the scientific community that has been warning us about the dangers of global warming for decades. Cal is just a little lap dog for corporate power and a Judas goat to boot.
In a February 16 letter to the editor, I wondered why religious leaders weren’t gathering on the steps of the US Capitol to speak out against Trump’s actions and the insurrection. I wasn’t specific, so as a Catholic, why were the four Iowa bishops silent on the uprising? I could write a good sermon using the command – you shall not kill and you shall not steal – explaining if the fascist coup had succeeded it would have been the murder of democracy and the theft of the ballot boxes.
