WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Some Republican congressmen have criticized President Joe Biden and his administration for not doing enough to resolve issues on the US-Mexico border.
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, criticized the president for not intervening as the trailers drove to the border.
âTens of thousands of migrants are currently in a caravan heading for our southern border,â Jordan said. âAnd how did the Congressional Democrats react? With the bill that grants amnesty to what is estimated at eight million people.
Representative Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, said Democratic policies are encouraging migrants to make the trip by pushing to include a migrant amnesty in the nearly $ 2 trillion spending bill currently underway in Congress.
“They are offering more incentives, putting gas on the fire of chaos at the border by saying, ‘We are going to grant eight million people amnesty and this path to citizenship,'” Arrington said.
Rep. Jake Auchincloss, D-Mass., Defended the bill as the only solution on the table to fix the broken immigration system.
âIt would reduce the backlog of immigrants applying for jobs here,â Auchincloss said. “Under their green cards which would allow people who have been here for 10 years to access a legal work permit.”
Republican Senator Ted Cruz sent a letter to Biden urging officials to intervene in regards to this trailer – citing concerns. Cruz said that if they don’t, the situation could escalate like it did several weeks ago in Del Rio.
âThis madness doesn’t seem to stop, it just keeps getting bigger,â Arrington said.
