Young Republicans aim to help GOP resurgence in Arlington | news / arlington

As local Republicans strive to get as many supporters as possible in the fall, they will be banking on supporting their younger ones.

“Young Republicans are here to support you, to knock on doors,” Arlington-Falls Church Young Republicans Chairman Jonathan “Kipp” Chapin said at the Arlington County Republican Committee monthly meeting, where the party’s four candidates for the House of Delegates made their supporting arguments.

Ten years ago, the Arlington-Falls Church Republican Youth Organization was the largest of its kind in Virginia (and perhaps still is). Chapin said members bring enthusiasm for Republican causes to the table.

“We have time – not so much the money, but the time,” he laughed.

Their efforts are unlikely to do much to help the four candidates vying for solid Democratic seats in the House of Delegates in the Arlington area. But every voter will count in what could be a close statewide election for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
